Palabrandar Theatre Company presents Real Women Have Curves
Real Women Have Curves (Josefina López) is a heartfelt, comedic drama set in 1987 East L.A., where Ana García, a brilliant Mexican-American young woman, balances her dream of college with the urgent realities of family obligation in her sister’s struggling sewing shop. As immigration fears loom, body image and self-acceptance collide with cultural expectations and a mother-daughter power struggle. With an ensemble of working-class Latinas, the play offers humor, grit, and significant emotional stakes perfect for directors drawn to stories about immigration, identity, resilience, and choosing your own future without abandoning your roots.
